Dodge Mounted Bearings
For more than 120 years, Dodge has been one of the leading manufacturers of power transmission system components and products across the globe. The company today makes use of global resources to continue to engineer the highest quality mounted bearings in the entire world, and a vast selection of them too.
Sometimes referred to as bearing units or bearing blocks, mounted bearings feature bearings situated within housing to create additional support for the bearing when in use, and to provide an ease of installation. These useful bearings are face or surface mounted in applications in which the shaft is perpendicular to the unit itself. Housed bearings provide support for the shaft for radial or thrust loads, or a combination of the two.
There are many types of mounted bearings including:
-
Pillow Block Bearings (or Plummer Block)– Pillow block bearings generally contain bearings fitted inside, and are meant for smaller loads and less rigorous use.
-
Flanged Bearings– Flanged bearings come in several configurations, but the most popular are two-bolt and four-bolt designs. The smaller, two-bolt style bearings are often referred to as flangettes, and the four-bolt designs often feature a solid base and wide inner ring designed for more heavy-duty applications.
-
Take-Up Bearings– Take-up bearings are used to adjust the lengths of belts and chains to compensate for shrinkage, wear and tear, or stretch that can occur during process applications.
-
Hanger Bearings– Hanger bearings are journal- or plain-type bearings that mount inside hangers, and are easily replaceable when worn out. Hanger bearings are a small-space means of supporting shafts of screw conveyors and other similar pieces of equipment.
