The Browning brand brings innovation and interesting solutions to the table while manufacturing the best possible products from bearings, couplings, and gearing to belts, pulleys, and more. Browning also offers the world’s largest selection of application-matched shaft-ready sprockets and bushings for maximum efficiency in all your various applications. Browning sprockets are high-quality and shaft-ready to reduce unwanted downtime while increasing chain life.
What are sprockets?
A sprocket, sprocket-wheel, or a chainwheel is a profiled wheel with teeth that mesh with a chain or track. The term “sprocket” applies generally to any wheel upon which radial projections engage a chain which passes over it. It is distinguished from a gear as sprockets are never meshed together directly, and it is distinguished from a pulley in that pulleys are smooth while sprockets have teeth to pull them along.
To put it simply, a roller chain sprocket is any wheel with teeth that mesh with a chain. That said, sometimes roller chain sprockets are also run in conjunction with a track or some other perforated material in certain applications. Not to be mixed up with gears, roller chain sprockets do not ever mesh directly with other sprockets.
Sprockets are used in bicycles, motorcycles, tracked vehicles, and lots of other machinery to either transmit rotary motion between two shafts in applications where gears are unsuitable or to impart linear motion to a track. In the case of a bicycle, perhaps the most popular example of a sprocket, the pedal shaft carries a large sprocket-wheel which drives a chain, which in turn drives a small sprocket on the axle of the rear wheel.
Advantages of Browning Sprockets
Browning roller chain sprockets are manufactured with high-quality aluminum hubs, which adds to their design durability and strength. The body is manufactured with glass-reinforced nylon. This glass-reinforced nylon offers a number of material advantages that contribute to the overall durability of the sprockets’ design. Not only is nylon self-lubricating, but also it is rust resistant. Nylon is also lightweight and hardy.
Together, aluminum and nylon combine to create an extremely durable Browning sprocket design that results in a long service life for users. All of these advantages, along with the affordability of nylon, make this one of the most efficient, cost-effective roller chain sprockets on the market.
